About Us
Baziel Pearce is a trained technologist who has a heart for children, their families, and the communities they live in. She started a company to fill a need she saw emerging in her community. Her company goal is to promote digital literacy for underserved and underrepresented people and communities. Baziel started Pearce Learning Tech, LLC after looking for technology-based activities her children could participate in and finding none. There were was nothing nearby either. Knowing the importance of digital literacy, this left Baziel feeling like the children in her community were being left behind and not being adequately prepared to thrive in the future, which is digital. This, she found, was something she uniquely equipped to address.
Using her educational training in developmental psychology and instructional technology with experience in early childhood technology, Baziel formed Pearce Learning Tech, or PLT, to address the needs she saw. PLT emphasizes technology from a community-centered perspective. She believes that there are many ways in which children and their families can work toward developing digital literacy, both formally and informally. Using research based practices, PLT works with children as young as four, and occasionally three, to build the foundation for coding through robotics, by using developmentally appropriate methods. For the youngest learners this often means little to no use of screens. Every experience is designed to be more than just fun, they are hands-on, intentional, and designed to have a long-lasting impact.
